Poem: Defining Womanhood

Black woman, who is she?

Strong yet soft.

Bound but free.

Seen but misconceived.

Boisterous yet unbelieved.

Indelible but slowly being erased from history.

Forbearing life's harsh realities.

Protecting those she loves by any means.

Black woman, who is she?

Black woman, she is me.

Black women, who are we?

Black women, we are free from the lies of our enemies.

Black women, let's believe that anything we put our minds to, we can achieve.

Black women, we are Black history.
