Ever since the curtains closed mid-March, thousands of theaters have had to furlough employees and movie studios had to toss out the star-studded premieres for their multimillion-dollar productions.

In recent months, there has been a huge decline in ticket sales due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.

For independently owned cinemas, the question of whether or not the theatrical business can survive COVID-19 is still up in the air.

According to The Wall Street Journal AMC Chief Executive Adam Aron stated,

“To survive, AMC needs to get all its theaters open and selling tickets again—expected to happen by July”

Moviegoers will have a very different experience as soon as theaters reopen.

Across America movie theaters have taken rows of seats out to enforce social distancing and have consulted with Public Health officials on protocol to keep the theaters clean.

Cinemark CEO, Mark Zoradi claims that the first phase of their theaters reopening will kick off on Friday, June 19th.

According to BoxOffice Pro,

That weekend will see a “test phase” where five theaters in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area will reopen.”

The Tennessee based company, Regal Theaters could possibly open in July but the Vice President of Communications told KTVZ that it depends on the physical distancing guidelines in place and when movies will be available from the production studios.
