Orlando, Fla. -- After almost 3 months of closing their gates due to the spread of Coronavirus, Universal Orlando is set to reopen June 5th, just in time for the summer.
According to News 13 Orlando; Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis approved the plan to reopen Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay; Friday afternoon.
Due to the current health threat of Covid-19, visitors will be expected to adhere to the following safety measures put in place upon the resort's reopening:
Mandatory face coverings.
Temperature screenings.
Visitors will be required to wear their masks while on attractions, except attractions that include significant amounts of water as part of the experience. (this includes Volcano Bay's slides and pools)
The parks will have reduced capacity each day.
Social distancing measures will also be enforced at the resort's attractions and restaurants. According to Universal, some attractions will remain closed while others will have virtual lines. The list of attractions has yet to be determined.
CEO of Universal Parks and Resorts, Tom Williams wants returning visitors and new guests to know,
"We have put new health and safety procedures in place for both our team members and guests. And we have worked hard to make sure our guests can enjoy their time with family and friends. Doing this the right way will take all of us -- and we need everyone’s help. Guests should follow our guidelines and continue to follow the recommendations of the CDC and health officials."
The first phase of reopening will begin June 1-2 for park employees to test run and preview the resort's modifications. Pass-holders and a limited amount of guest will be able to enter the park June 3-4.
The Hours of Operation for the parks are as followed:
Universal Studios Florida: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily
Universal’s Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily
Universal’s Volcano Bay: 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily
The date when Universal reopens its resort hotels is still being determined.
